The Very Rev Robert Andrew Mitchell was Dean of Lincoln from 1930 to 1949.〔“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 Born in 1870,〔The Times, Thursday, Jul 14, 1949; pg. 7; Issue 51433; col E ''Obituary The Dean Of Lincoln''〕 he was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford, and ordained in 1893. His first post was as a curate at St Mary-at-the-Walls, Colchester,〔(Parish history )〕 after which he was Vicar of Highfield, Hampshire then of St Michael, Chester Square,〔(Church Web Site )〕 before his appointment to the Deanery.
